Note: Jewelbots curriculum NOT compatible with Chromebooks).\nMac users: if you’re laptop doesn’t have a usb port\, please bring a usb adaptor to connect your jewelbot to your laptop.\nThe minumum age requirement is the ability to read\, type\, and use a mouse\nDelicious cupcakes from BabyCakes will be provided for coding fuel!\nPlease review Kansas City Women in Technology’s Code of Coduct\n\nFAQs \nWhat are Jewelbots? \nJewelbots are friendship bracelets for the iPhone era. Technology-enabled jewelry for tween and teen girls\, they’re a means of communicating with friends by lighting up when a BFF is near or buzzing to send messages to a pal across the school. \nWhat are Jewelbots coded in? \nC++ \nWhat is required to attend?  \nA wifi-enabled laptop\, with windows\, linux\, or osx operating system and permissions to download software (Jewelbots curriculum is NOT compatible with Chromebooks) . We will be downloading the Arduino IDE to program our Jewelbots with. Be sure to bring a powercord and mouse if you prefer! \n  \nHow does registration work?  \nRegister for one ticket for your daughter\, and register for one parent/adult chaperone ticket. This ticket includes your very own Jewelbot + extra band! DESCRIPTION:Session Topic: Cocktail Camp \n***Please note the extended hours starting at 4pm through 9pm*** \nIn our final session of the year\, we set you up in a microenvironment that mimics a software development team in the wild.  Working together with a mentor acting as the ‘team lead’ your team of two or three will work to build a web site from scratch using whatever tools you feel comfortable using. Alternatively\, you can also work towards making a contribution to an open source project to boost your code portfolio! Don’t worry about making your own team; we’ll pair you up with other participants as you arrive\, or you can let us know if you want to work with another participant you know. \nDo you find hackathons intimidating or worry you don’t have the skills to participate?  Come join our micro-hackathon where we’ll support you the entire way if you feel overwhelmed or get stuck!  Don’t worry\, ours only lasts for 5 hours instead of the traditional 24 – you get your beauty sleep too!   \nNote: As a special offering\, since this is our last session of the year\, we are extending the hours from 4-9 p.m. to give you more time to work on your team project and to let everyone show off their great work.
