Working together with a mentor acting as the ‘team lead\,’ your team of two or three will work to build a web site from scratch using whatever tools you feel comfortable using. Alternatively\, you can also work towards making a contribution to an open source project to boost your code portfolio! We will be downloading the Arduino IDE to program our Jewelbots with. Be sure to bring a powercord and mouse if you prefer! \nHow does registration work? \nRegister for one ticket for your daughter\, and register for one parent/adult chaperone ticket. This ticket includes your very own Jewelbot + extra band! DESCRIPTION:Join us for our monthly coding series\, Coding & Cupcakes. Parents and daughters are invited to attend sessions to learn about code and how to build websites together. Attendees will learn to build their own websites using tools like Github and IDEs! \n\nOne ticket per parent/adult chaperone\nOne ticket per daughter\nNo coding experience necessary\nOne wifi-enabled laptop between each parent and daughter is required\nThe minimum age requirement is the ability to read\, type\, and use a mouse\nDelicious cupcakes from BabyCakes will be provided for coding fuel!\nPlease review Kansas City Women in Technology’s Code of Coduct\n\nDads\, we love you and have expanded what was previously a mother & daughter event to father & daughter teams too! It will be a fun\, easy introduction to coding\, so please encourage the ladies in your life to attend. \n  \nFAQs \nHow does registration work? \nRegister for one ticket for your daughter\, selecting between the option of bringing a laptop or having one provided at the event\, and register for one parent/adult chaperone ticket. \nIf you’d like to bring several girls or attend the event with another pair\, our form does accommodate that by allowing you to specify the quantity during registration. \nAre there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? \nThe minimum age requirement is the ability to use a mouse\, as well as basic reading and computer typing skills. There is a worksheet provided for the parent/chaperone and daughter to work through\, with mentors on hand to assist with the more complex topics. \nWhat are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? \nThe Upper Level Parking area on the corner of 39th and Warwick is available to all attendees. \nWhat can I bring into the event? \nEach girl should have one wi-fi enabled laptop\, a power cord and mouse.
